Charles Dobara
Actor, Producer, Writer
Charles Dobara is the Writer and Producer of the nonprofit film Salvation, the most translated film in cinematic history. It is a 74 minute feature film which could be described as a true story drama documentary. In the Film he speaks Hindi, Urdu, Somali and three different dialects of Arabic to people from these countries, answering their questions until he finally reveals why he made the film in the Shree Swaminarayan Hindu temple in London. Salvation features the song "Sar Jhukaake (I Bow My Head)" written and produced by Dobara and his friend Arjuna Harjai, sung by one of India's greatest vocalists, Richa Sharma. It is the most translated song ever created in all of history; Dobara has found people in hill tribes in places like Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, and across the whole continent of Africa, persuading them to translate both the film and the song. Many of the languages are on the UN endangered languages list and this is the first time that they have been shown on an international feature film or song. The translations are available on the YouTube upload which will be available in February.
