For this grand ranking of French villages, 22 communes have been selected to represent each region. Some of them are famous, others less known. The natural, historical, architectural and even gastronomic heritage has been considered in this selection.

In 2012, viewers elected Saint-Cirq Lapopie as "the favorite village of the French". In 2013, 22 new villages are submitted to the vote. All of them are classified "most beautiful villages of France" by the association with the same name...
