Horace is desperate to go back in time to save his grandma from slipping on the stairs. But time-travelling with Homeless Pete is not an exact science, and the band find themselves stuck in the year 1958.

The gang move in with Victoria, but times are tough and she wants rent. Nick cares more about opening his very own jazz club, but his jazz fails to attract customers. Lauren - who’s been working for Len at his gentleman’s club – sees a business opportunity and starts bringing ‘dancing girls’ to the club. Nick is torn: the club is full but what about the jazz?

Victoria wants to marry off her and Jason’s son, JJ, so organizes a debutantes’ ball in order to find him a high-society wife. 32-year-old JJ is the result of his parents’ good times in the 1920s. The fact that his son is older than him doesn’t stop Jason taking fatherhood seriously. To Jason’s dismay, JJ’s love interest proves highly unsuitable: Lauren.

Somehow Horace’s private diary from 2019 has been published. His accounts of a Peckham boy become an overnight sensation in 1950s London - with furious speculation about who the visionary ‘science fiction’ author might be.

When Nick’s musical idol General Hands comes to stay, Nick thinks they’re going to get on famously. But Hands has other plans. Jason is feeling insecure about his body and Hands makes an effort to reassure him – which in turn makes Nick jealous. Lauren suspects that Hands’ special attention isn’t just about Jason’s self-esteem.

When Nick confronts a racist he becomes a hero to some West Indian immigrants. Unluckily for Nick, that racist is actually Victoria’s new husband, who also wants to close Nick’s jazz club. Horace feels unloved by Nick and befriends some rowdy Teddy Boys. When the Teds meet the West Indians, it sparks a race riot. The gang need to get to the time machine – pronto!
